Care in Motion a well credentialled and dedicated Community Transport provider, a pillar of community care and transport founded well over 25 years ago, announces a new partnership with One SMG and the Port Pirie Regional Council to enhance transport accessibility within the Port Pirie Regional Council area. Through this collaboration, Care in Motion will receive a sponsored vehicle provided by One SMG for a two-year period ensuring expanded community transport services for transport disadvantaged residents. Port Pirie Regional Council have collaborated to assist Care in Motion and One SMG to ensure the success of this initiative by contributing much needed funds to assist with covering operational running costs.
Since its inception, Care in Motion has been focused on providing vital community transport solutions to several South Australian councils. With a team of dedicated staff and over 170 volunteers, they have worked to ensure that no individual faces transportation disadvantages. In the 2022-23 year alone, Care in Motion served 3087 active clients, with an average age of 71 years. Their services encompassed a total of 17,310 client trips made up of medical and social transportation needs totaling 1,003,289 kilometres travelled.
In recent times Care in Motion was awarded the contract for the Northern Passenger Transport Network (NPTN) encompassing 6 council regions, one of which is the Port Pirie Regional Council. Since its inception as a provider, the NPTN has never had a dedicated vehicle located in Port Pirie.
