Port Pirie Care in Motion and One SMG Partnership: 2024-25 Impact Update

The Care in Motion partnership with One SMG has marked a successful 2024-25 year, with the sponsored vehicle in Port Pirie (sourced from Spencer Motors) delivering vital transport services to the community. Key achievements for the year include:

• 30,839 km driven

• 187 trips completed

• 74 individual clients served

• 66 days on the road

These results highlight the essential role the program plays in enabling access to healthcare and services, particularly for those facing transport disadvantage.

David McDonald, CEO of Care in Motion, said “These numbers show what is possible when the community comes together. Driving over 30,000 kilometres and helping 74 people in only 66 days on the road confirms that there was real unmet need here. With this support from One SMG, we’ve been able to make a tangible difference in people’s lives, and we intend to grow further.”

Witnessing over 180 trips in a year, many carrying people to medical appointments, some perhaps their only chance to get access, is what this kind of partnership is all about. The community impact is best expressed through those directly involved, Mary, a Care in Motion client, shared “This service has changed my life; without it I wouldn’t be able to access medical treatment in Adelaide.” John, Volunteer Driver, reflected “Volunteer driving gives me something to do in my retirement, and I get to meet lots of interesting and lovely people.”
